A historic moment in the ongoing fight against racism with the “Resolutions: Overcoming Racism Together” conference, the first anti-racism conference in French Ontario, held annually on October 16 and 17, which brings together eminent speakers, distinguished guests and a diverse assembly of experts, policy-makers, community leaders, distinguished panelists and advocates in a united effort in pursuit of a more inclusive and equitable society. This momentous event is dedicated to the pressing issue of racism and the development of effective strategies to combat it, with a focus on sharing experiences, promoting constructive dialogue and proposing workable solutions, to drive positive change and advance anti-racism initiatives.
The “Resolutions: Overcoming racism together” conference serves as a catalyst for concrete action to dismantle systemic racism and promote diversity, equity and inclusion.

Leonie Tchatat
Founder & CEO of La Passerelle-I.D.É.
Founder and CEO of La Passerelle-I.D.É. in Toronto and Paris, former commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and co-chair of the advisory committee for the Call to Action Against Racism she founded in 2021, Ms. Léonie Tchatat has played a key role in developing innovative initiatives rooted in a deep understanding of the issues of inclusion, anti-racism and the growing diversity of Ontario and Canadian society. Léonie Tchatat has worked for over 25 years on initiatives to eradicate racism in our society. In 2021, she was appointed a member of the City of Toronto's Black Mandate Funding Committee, whose objective is to create a funding framework dedicated to Black communities in order to realize the City's commitment to the International Decade for People of African Descent. Also as an extension of her work, in 2021 she was invited to speak at the EFUS international conference in Nice, which brought together over 250 European and international cities and regions to promote enhanced, inclusive and sustainable urban safety. Ms. Tchatat has received numerous other awards in recognition of her achievements: in 2009, she was named Chevalier de l'Ordre de la Francophonie et du Dialogue des Cultures de la Pléiade; in 2002, she was named a member of the Passages to Canada Speakers Bureau. She was a member of the Citizenship and Immigration Canada - Francophone Minority Communities Steering Committee in 2005, and served two terms on the Board of Directors of French-language public educational broadcaster TFO. A strategist and activist, she created a cultural competency training program, recognized as a best practice by the Canadian government, promoting the integration of immigrants to Canada. She also launched two major public awareness campaigns on the contribution of French-speaking immigrants to Ontario, entitled “Immigrant veut dire: une francophonie ontarienne plus forte!” and “Immigrant veut dire: un Ontario français prospère!”. Thanks to Ms. Tchatat's interventions, thousands of immigrants have found their way to Canada. She was also appointed representative to the Canada-France Seminar on Youth and the Integration of Diversity, organized by the Canadian Embassy in France and the Conseil national des villes. In recognition of her community and corporate achievements, Ms. Tchatat received the RBC Black Diamond Award in February 2023. In May 2024, La Passerelle-I.D.É. won the City of Toronto's prestigious Toronto Champion Community Award for its leadership in addressing critical issues facing racialized Blacks and Francophones.

Dominique Dennery
Principal Consultant & Founder of Dennery Ressources Inc. and the Obsidian Leadership Center
A black Canadian fluent in both official languages, Dominique Dennery has over 30 years' experience working with national, provincial and municipal organizations, helping them to achieve their goals and realize their potential. In recent years, she has facilitated federal consultations on issues such as housing, eliminating gender-based violence and combating racism. Dominique Dennery holds a master's degree in French literature and certificates in management consulting, coaching and facilitation. Her commitment to equity and the fight against oppression spans her entire career. Most recently, she was appointed President of the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership (OLIP), a multi-sector partnership of 60 local organizations working on common priorities to attract, settle and integrate immigrants to the nation's capital. Dominique Dennery is also a sculptor, and her bronze works have been exhibited in places such as Gatineau City Hall, Toussaint Louverture Park in Montreal, as well as in private collections in Canada and abroad. Recognized both for her art and for her facilitation and coaching work, Dominique Dennery has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Key to the City of Montreal, the Gold Medal for the Impact of Facilitation and an award from Mosaïque interculturelle for her pioneering work. In 2018, she was selected as one of Canada's 100 Accomplished Black Women.

Ronald Bisson
Long-time Community Leader
Ronald Bisson is originally from Manitoba. He is very familiar with the issues facing Canada's French-speaking community. He began his career as a young teacher in the '70s. In 1982, he moved to Ottawa to become Executive Director of the Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française, a position he held until 1989. He owned an official languages consulting firm for 30 years. Mr. Bisson is well versed in the issues facing French-speaking immigrants, having conducted over 50 immigration studies and research projects, including the preparation of the first national strategic plan to promote French-speaking immigration to Francophone minority communities. He is currently Director of Operations for a pan-Canadian organization. He has volunteered with several community organizations, including the United Way of Eastern Ontario, the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership and the Maison de la francophonie d'Ottawa. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Latin-Philosophy), a Certificate in Education from the University of St. Boniface and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa.

Solange Belluz is currently Pastor, Congregational Life at The Peoples Church in Toronto. She is also a life coach, speaker, consultant and founding faculty member of the French John Maxwell Team. She is the founder of the Center for Life Coaching and Leadership Training. As a professional coach, she is committed to empowering individuals and organizations, helping them find meaning and purpose in their life choices that will lead them to personal and professional success. With her empathy and authenticity, she enjoys helping individuals and teams realize their dreams and reach their potential by combining leadership training and communication mastery with practical and spiritual insights that inspire transformation and deliver results. A serial entrepreneur by nature, Solange has launched several successful businesses. Prior to launching her entrepreneurial career, she was Executive Director of Government, Institutional and International Relations at Glendon College - York University and held executive roles in the Ontario Public Service for over 20 years. Born in Cameroon, Solange grew up in France and immigrated to Canada over 32 years ago as an international student. Trained on three continents, she holds an MBA from York University's Schulich School of Business, a Master's degree in Translation from York University, a Master's degree in Management Sciences from EM Lyon Business School (France) and an MDiv - Master of Divinity from Oral Roberts University (USA). She has also trained as a professional coach at the Adler School of Professional Psychology, and is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and the Canadian Immigration Consultants Regulatory Council (CRCIC). She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Leadership at Tyndale University (Toronto). Actively involved in the community, Solange has served on a number of boards in Canada and abroad, and has participated in several youth initiatives, such as the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. She is currently Chair of the Board of the Entité de planification des services de santé en français du Grand Toronto (Entité 3). In her spare time, Solange enjoys baking and spending quality time with her husband of over 22 years and their two sons.

Daniel Cayen
Former Assistant Deputy Minister of the Provincial Government
A native of Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Daniel Cayen obtained his B.A. in History from Laurentian University and his M.A. in Political Science from the University of Toronto. In 1981, Daniel was awarded a parliamentary internship at Queen's Park, enabling him to develop an expertise in Ontario's legislative and political processes. In 1982, he joined the Ontario Public Service, where his career spanned more than 32 years in the fields of constitutional (Charlottetown Accord), environmental, labour and language policy. He reached the level of Assistant Deputy Minister. Since his youth, Daniel has nurtured the ambition of one day being in a position to do what he wants, when he wants and with whom he wants. He achieved his goal in 2014. Since then, Daniel has been volunteering, traveling the world with his wife, writing, studying Spanish and, in the best Baudelaire tradition, "il flâne".

Mohamed Boudjenane
Former Journalist at Queens Park & Spokesperson for the Canado-arab Federation
Mohamed Boudjenane is a civil servant with the Ontario provincial government and a former political journalist. He served in Bob Rae's NDP government as an aide to Minister Gilles Pouliot until 1995. He joined Franco-Ontarian television station TFO in 1995, where he was a reporter for ten years. He changed careers again in 2005, serving as Executive Director of the Canadian Arab Federation until 2009. Over the years, he has served on numerous human rights organizations and councils.

Jawad Kassab
Former Immigration Lawyer and Retired Executive of Onatrio Legal Aid
Caribbean-born Canadian immigrant Jawad Kassab is a retired executive with Legal Aid Ontario. During his 22-year career, he managed the legal program serving refugees and immigrants in Ontario. Me. Kassab is an experienced director who has served on the boards of several charitable organizations. Me. Kassab now works as a consultant focusing on corporate governance and management to build a just and equitable world for all.

Marc Arnal
Volunteer with a lifetime commitment to promoting Canada's civic values
A native of Manitoba with a PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Alberta, Marc Arnal served as Dean of Campus Saint-Jean (U. of Alberta) from 2003-2014. Prior to that, he was Regional Director of the Secretary of State for Alberta and NWT, following ten years in Ottawa in various management positions. He also served on the senior staff of the Alberta Teachers' Association from 1993 -2003 as Operations Manager, Secretary of Professional Discipline and Union Agent. A member of the team charged with investigating the links between Francophones and other components of Canadian society, he served as Co-Founding President of the Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural Dialogue and Community Co-Chair for the Committee on Francophone Immigration to Minority Communities, both from 2002 -2012. He has also served on a number of national committees, including health and immigration. Known for his outspokenness, he has presented many controversial points of view, notably on inclusion and belonging. Mr. Arnal retired in 2014. He is married to Rashmi Joshee and they have three children.
