Introduction

The Francophone Transition Home Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all aspects of the francophone transition home operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, resident-cultural centered services. A key focus of this role is on a culturally sensitive approach and fostering intercultural integration for the residents. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Francophone Transition Home Manager collaborates with staff, volunteers, and community partners to align operations with the organization’s mission and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Operational supervision

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the francophone transition home, including welcoming residents, staffing and allocating resources.

  • Develop, implement and monitor operational policies, procedures and security protocols.

  • Ensure compliance with legal, health and safety standards.


Supervision and development of staff

  • Recruit, train and supervise the francophone transition home staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and culturally competent team environment.

  • Schedule staff work rotations, including evenings, weekends, holidays and nights.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing support and professional development opportunities.


Budget and resource management

  • Control the centre's budgets, track expenditures and ensure efficient use of resources.

  • Collaborate with donors and stakeholders to secure funding and maintain financial sustainability.


Cultural advice and intercultural integration

  • Integrate cultural guidance into service delivery, ensuring that the francophone transition home environment respects and recognizes residents’ cultural identities.

  • Facilitate initiatives that promote intercultural understanding and help residents manage their transition to the wider community.


Support for residents

  • Oversee the delivery of high quality support services, ensuring that residents' immediate and long-term needs are met.

  • Resolve conflicts or challenges within the francophone transition home, ensuring timely resolution while prioritizing the well-being of residents.


Community Collaboration and Partnerships

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external agencies, community organizations and service providers.

  • Working with partners to deliver comprehensive services including legal aid, health care, employment and education.


Program Evaluation and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate the francophone transition home performance and outcomes.

  • Prepare and present reports on the francophone transition home activities, achievements and areas for improvement.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions and community events.

  • Perform additional tasks and special projects as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Working in a dynamic environment with residents and staff, responding to diverse challenges and needs.


This position requires availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and nights, including on-call emergencies.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration or related field.
  •  Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in center management, social services or a related role.
  •  Language : Fluency in French and English (oral and written).
  •  Skills: 
    •  Strong leadership, organizational and crisis management skills.
    •  Experience in budget management and working with stakeholders.
    •  Knowledge of trauma-informed care, anti-oppression practices, and cultural sensitivity.
    •  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
