Introduction

The Francophone Transition Home Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of the francophone transition home, managing schedules, overseeing resources, and facilitating access to essential services. By incorporating a culturally sensitive approach and promoting intercultural integration, the Francophone Transition Home Coordinator helps residents navigate their transition into the broader community. Reporting to the Francophone Transition Home Manager, this role requires collaboration with staff, volunteers, and community partners to deliver high-quality, resident-cultural centered services.

Key Responsibilities

Operational coordination

  • Oversee daily operations including welcoming residents, planning activities and distributing resources.

  • Develop and maintain operational procedures to ensure consistency and effectiveness.

  • Ensure that all work rotations, including evenings, weekends, holidays and nights, are adequately staffed.


Support for staff and volunteers

  • Coordinate rotation schedules and provide guidance to staff and volunteers to ensure smooth service delivery.

  • Foster a collaborative team environment through clear communication and support.


Resident Engagement and Support

  • Act as the primary point of contact for residents, addressing concerns and providing advice where necessary.

  • Ensure residents have access to essential services, including health care, legal aid, employment and educational support.


Cultural advice and intercultural integration

  • Promote a culturally inclusive environment that respects the culture of residents while facilitating their integration into the community.

  • Helping residents navigate local systems and understand community norms.


Security and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and legal regulations within the francophone transition home.

  • Respond quickly to any security issues or incidents, ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.


Administrative tasks and reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of francophone transition home activities, resident interactions, and service outcomes.

  • Assist the center manager in preparing reports and monitoring francophone transition home performance indicators.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in team meetings, trainings and agency events, including fundraisers and workshops.

  • Perform additional tasks and special projects assigned by the Francophone Transition Home Manager.

Working Conditions

  • Working in a dynamic environment with staff, volunteers and residents, responding to diverse challenges and needs.



This position requires flexibility, including evening, weekend, holiday, and night shifts, to ensure the continued operation of the centre.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Education : Degree in social work, human services or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 
    •  Experience coordinating services in a social service center or environment.
    •  Knowledge of local resources and services for refugees and vulnerable populations. 

      
     

  •  Language: Fluency in French and English (oral and written).
  •  Skills: 
    •  Strong organizational, multitasking and communication skills.
    •  Interpersonal skills focused on empathy, problem solving and professionalism.
    •  Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
